Procession of boats a turn off

The theme for this years IWA National Festival Illuminated Procession of Boats was to have been "Trains, Boats and Planes", in acknowledgment of the site's proximity to the railway and East Midlands Airport. The event was cancelled, though: the reason given being too few entrants and poor weather conditions. Some people had gone to considerable trouble to prepare their boats, they will have been disappointed that it was called off. The weather on the Sunday evening was rather rainy, and the wind didn't let up, so perhaps the right thing was done.

Cherie had stuck to the letter of the procession's theme, or, rather, strung the letters along the cabin top.

No train or plane in this photo, but an Eddie Stobart lorry is crossing behind Ratcliffe Lock as Tenacious and its motor are about to enter.

How disappointing for the participants. Prcessions of boats are always so impressive. Is Tenacious a Butty?
